Artificial intelligence and virtual reality are the industry's favourite promises. Some of it is already everyday, some is marketing. One question separates them: does this change the game's mathematical model, or only how the game looks and feels?
What is already changing

The right-hand column is monotonous on purpose. The return to player sits in the game's model, and the model exists before the interface.
What cannot change
- Randomness. An algorithm cannot predict a random number generator whose whole point is that it cannot be predicted.
- Expected value. A negative expectation is a property of every single bet, not a technical shortcoming.
- The house edge. It is the price of the game and the condition for the business to exist.
If something promises an AI that ”finds the winning games”, it is an interface, not mathematics. The tell is the absence of any arithmetic behind the claim. Industry technology coverage is published by, among others, MIT Technology Review.
What to expect in the next few years
- Identification and play limits move into law rather than being left to an operator's discretion.
- Provably fair methods spread. They improve transparency, not the return to player.
- Live table supply grows, and what those tables cost a player still follows from the table rules.

In table games the correct way to play has already been calculated and published. Slots contain no decisions to optimise.
Are VR casinos safer?
Safety comes from supervision and from how payments are handled, not from the number of dimensions in the view.
Does blockchain change the fairness of a game?
It can make a single round verifiable afterwards. It does not touch the return to player.
