Autumn campaigns: how to price an offer

Autumn campaigns and calculating bonus terms

Autumn is campaign season. Offers cluster around the turning leaves and the darkening evenings, and the headlines carry large percentages. This article does not say which offer is best; it shows how to work out the price of any offer yourself.

Why the season brings no luck

Ruska, the Finnish autumn colour, comes from pigments breaking down in the leaves. It is beautiful and has nothing to do with a game server. The probabilities of a spin are the same in August and in February. Campaigns, on the other hand, have everything to do with the season – they are timed for when players are most numerous.

Five terms that decide the value of an offer

Term What to check Why it matters
Wagering requirement The multiplier and what it is calculated on 35× on a €100 bonus is €3,500 wagered
Deadline How many days there are to complete it A short window inflates stakes artificially
Game weighting Which games contribute to wagering Table games often contribute only partially
Maximum stake How large a stake bonus funds allow Exceeding it can void the winnings entirely
Win cap Whether the withdrawable amount is limited It decides the real value of the offer

A worked example

A €100 bonus with a 35× wagering requirement means €3,500 must be wagered before the funds can be withdrawn. Played on games with a 96% return, the theoretical cost of that wagering is 4% × €3,500 = €140. Compare that figure with the size of the bonus and the price of the offer is settled with one multiplication.

The same calculation works for any offer. If one of the five terms is missing, the calculation cannot be made – and then the offer is better left alone.

Questions and answers

Is a bigger percentage always better?

No. A 400% bonus with high wagering and a short deadline can cost more in theory than a 100% bonus on lighter terms.

Is it worth taking a bonus at all?

That is a matter of taste, as long as the calculation has been done. Without a bonus the funds are more freely withdrawable; with one there is more playing time but the funds are tied.

What if the terms are unclear?

Ask customer support in writing and keep the answer. If no answer comes, the offer cannot be calculated.
